Since already 3 years we are operating with our own MES (Manufacturing Execution System). It supports us to make production in our house more transparent and flexible. The aim is to connect the individual data islands and thereby create an optimized, fast, automated and lossless data communication in the production chain.
Film Recordings at Merten for „Mechatronics Night“
The Vienna Mechatronics Chamber of Commerce approached us with the request, to record a part of their new image film at our company. This new image film will be presented at the Gala „Mechatronics Night“ in the Studio 44 of the Austria Lotteries in front of about 300 top-class guests from our Industry.

In the magazine X-technik all top employers in Austria were listed. We are very pleased that Merten was selected for the Vienna area. However, it is clear to us that there are 1.400 small and medium-sized companies in our business in Vienna which are incredibly sensational and successful employers. MERTEN was listed among the Top 4. That was the result of a jury’s decision based on their subjective evaluation. This result is very pleasing because this magazine is very strongly oriented towards training companies. Since Merten already invested in the project „Talet Pool“ for a very long time, this appreciation motivates us to continue to pass on the knowledge of our experts to the next generation.
College of Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management visits MERTEN
Merten is in close contact with various vocational secondary schools, colleges and universities. In the past 6 months, we have already welcomed 4 excursions at our company, where we introduced our company and conveyed our vision of a down-to-earth and highly innovative family business. We hope that the 29 students of the 3rd grade from the college HTL HAK Ungargasse, Department HTL – Industrial Engineering/Industrial Management – also had an added value by visiting our plant.
Family Merten welcomes new Team Member: Mr. Mertens
Funny but true, Mr. Ing. Peter Merten married his wife Claudia 22 years ago – her maiden name was Mertens. Her brother Michael Mertens learned the job in our company 20 years ago and worked many years in the production department.
5th Generation at MERTEN
It is unbelievable: After almost 100 years of our company’s existence, the second granddaughter has completed her intership in the company. Both young ladies of the 5th generation have decided on a technical education with the clear goal to lead the family business into the 5th generation.

This year Merten has its 25th anniversary of continuous apprenticeship training and has been training skilled workers for about 50 years. We are very happy that the Wiener Wirtschaft (Vienna Economy) has communicated this topic to 103.000 craft businesses and has selected us for the cover. We know that it is not easy to train apprentices or skilled workers, but – thank God – we already have a lot of experience. Our recipe for success is a fine sense for people, a well-considered plan for the training and a promising perspective that motivates the next generation.
