Automation is not a sure-fire success – how Merten is mastering the challenge

Automation sounds simple, but it isn’t. At Merten, it became clear that only stable and clearly defined manufacturing processes can be automated. But with perseverance and technical expertise, the team managed to successfully integrate the new loading robot.

Over the past year and a half, Merten has invested heavily in automation. A CNC turning/milling machining center has recently been equipped with a loading robot. After two months of intensive work, the process is now running productively and efficiently, even with small batch sizes. This has resulted in sustainable cost optimization. This is an important step in view of the sharp rise in wage costs in recent years.

Following this successful commissioning, Merten is already planning the next expansion in the area of CNC milling. A big thank you goes to the entire team who made this challenging realization possible.
