Products in a trimming line are spine leading in one trimmer, spine to the side in the other trimmer, and then spine leading again before entering the stacker. Furthermore, single delivery web presses deliver magazine products “spine to the side”. In both cases, the use of a bump turn is mandatory. The BT/1120 turns the shingled stream 90° (left or right) and simultaneously turns the copies in the shingled stream 90°. The bump turn therefore changes the product orientation from spine to side to spine and vice versa. The BT/1120 is a multi-format bump turn. Equipped with a telescopic infeed and moveable bump plate, it can handle copies from digest to tabloid size. For safe handling of light and thin products, the outfeed conveyor can optionally be equipped with a vacuum system.
The BT/1120 processes a shingled stream, but it can also be configured as the BTD/1120 double stream model, which then processes two superimposed streams.
